12.04.12 - Back in Time
This is a 3-shot panorama of the familiar view looking up Steep Hill in Lincoln, and I have processed it to be my entry for the current Dgrin Challenge, Photography 100 Years Ago. As well as the monochrome conversion I've added a sepia filter, a pale vignette and noise to give a slightly distressed antique feel. This view itself is slightly too wide for a single shot without a fish eye lens, and also has considerable vertical elevation looking up the hill, hence having to merge three portrait orientation images.
Regarding the thumbs downer that afflicts us from time to time, I have started another discussion thread on Dgrin in a attempt to tackle the issue once and for all. It is clear from the initial response of Smug that most people suffer in silence, but if we want to stop it we need to contact Smug with specific details. Andy, one of Smug's top guys, has offered to deal with this personally. So if this is an issue for you please contact him privately, or join in the Dgrin thread. I'm at pains to point out that this is about serious abuse, not just petty thumbing down or negative comments. The thread is here;
