04.06.17 - The Knight's Trail

As promised here are some more of the 37 Knights that comprise the Knight's Trail in Lincoln. They commemorate the 800th anniversary of the Battle of Lincoln, and the sealing of the Charter of the Forest. The Magna Carta is better known around the world for establishing the legal principles of Habeus Corpus and trial by jury, but it was basically an agreement between the King and his Barons. The Charter of the Forest extended those rights, and others, to the common people. Lincoln is the only place in the world to have original copies of both historic documents, and they can be seen together in the Castle.
