11.04.17 - Skellingthorpe Old Wood

This ancient woodland on the edge of town has featured a lot lately, it is the closest large wood to home, and also the best place for bluebells in the County. They have just started to appear, but in a week or so there will be beautiful blue carpets throughout the forest. There are also white carpets of wood anemone and yellow ones of celandine. The butterflies are coming out in force now too, and the whole effect is stunning in the spring sunshine.
