14.03.14 - Blackthorn Blossom

After a ridiculously mild winter in the UK the spring blossom is coming out everywhere now. Last weekend we noticed the white blackthorn flowers covered with butterflies so I went in search of them yesterday. Unfortunately it was too windy for butterflies, but the blossom was pretty. Sloes are the fruit of the blackthorn, so hopefully all this blossom is a sign of a bumper harvest later in the year, lots of sloe gin for Christmas again then :)
