johnloguk > 6.12.08 - Getting in the Christmas Spirit I went up to the Christmas Market again this evening. I was dreading the Saturday crowds, but I fancied a longer look round than I got on Thursday and needed a lot more photos for my gallery http://johnloguk.smugmug.com/gallery/6738542_jSM8e#431506672_8mWnT In the end it was great. I found the Medieval Market in the Old Bishops Palace, which was brilliant, and had some great roast chestnuts from this stall in the shadow of the Castle. The temperature was hovering around freezing, but some hot chestnuts washed down with mulled wine was just the job. A venison burger and pint of "Rosey Nosey" Christmas beer also helped :) I'm hoping that the car will take me off and find some snow tomorrow, but we'll have to see about that!
johnloguk > 9.5.09 - And the next one please............ It's a veritable rainbow fest over here at the moment. If I hadn't been so busy yesterday I could have photographed about a dozen of them. I wouldn't want anyone to think that we've had a lot of rain lately, we really haven't had much at all, but we have had a lot of short sharp squalls and lots of rainbows. You can see from the road that there isn't much rain, and I literally ran down the road with my camera as the rainbow was fading in front of my eyes. johnloguk > 28.3.09 - Watching Me Watching You I had the kids today and until half an hour ago I'd forgotten that I hadn't taken a Daily yet! I toyed with the idea of going out somewhere for a shot, but a nano second later decided against it :) So you get a silly SP in the bathroom mirror, converted to B&W, solarized and a cyan filter added. It sounds complicated, but it really wasn't. The best thing about the PP is that it covers up the filthy state of the mirror! Joking apart this shot is very "me". Using the door frame as an impromptu tripod because I couldn't be bothered to get it out of the cupboard, and getting much better comp than I could have got from here by using a tripod. I think my tripod might have given up waiting to be used and left me, I've not seen it in quite a while :)
johnloguk > 31.1.09 - A Year on the Dailies :) Yes I know, this is pic 367, but I posted 2 shots on 1 day. I'll be starting a new gallery tomorrow and seeing where it takes me. These are just a few of the photos that nearly made it to the Dailies, my biggest problem has always been to choose which shot to put in this gallery. I've not quite managed to take a photo every day, and had to resort to the archives every now and again, but I managed a lot more than I thought I would when I started! Thanks for all the support and friendship over the last 12 months, I learnt so much and tried so many new things, there is always something new to try in photography! I hope that I can meet up with some of you during 2009, now that would be FUN :)

I just love the old tree, I bet it could tell some tales. johnloguk > 24.3.09 - "Tennyson" I've been given permission to publish a couple of my Tennyson photos from the weekend, which is cool because I'd got a day behind and it allows me to catch up. This is actor Ben Poole as the poet Alfred, Lord Tennyson. johnloguk > 7.12.08 - Fire and Ice I love sunsets over water, but sunsets over icy water are even more spectacular, and what an end to the weekend this was! I had hoped to find some snow today, but there was none to be had, so I went for a run in the frosty sunshine this morning, then a leisurely walk in some more frosty sunshine this afternoon. I know Hartsholme Park and Swanholme Lakes like the back of my hand, but I never tire of walking there in the changing seasons. johnloguk > 30.6.09 - June As Summer draws on it gets harder to choose the wildflowers for these collages. There are no buttercups, daisies, poppies, "fireweed" and a whole host of beautiful flowers. Hopefully they will get a chance in July's collage, but of course they will be even more flowers battling for the collage by then! But I am now half-way through this calendar project, and November was done last year :) The year so far can be seen here; http://www.lightanddreamsphotography.com/gallery/8057142_2Tkfp#524865489_gekpy Late Edit; The background image is a tiny plant called "Speedwell" which covers the ground like a blue mist on the nature reserve near my home.
