johnloguk > 3.7.08 - Smile please, go on, smile why don cha!

OK, "enough already" he types in his best Brooklyn accent. I'm still traumatised from the bullying I got yesterday for my miserable looking SP Daily. I mean, can't a guy look serious every now and again :)

I was up and away early this morning, with no time to comment on the Dailies. I managed a break in the local nature reserve late morning, where this was taken. I had been a beautiful hot sunny morning, but just as the shutter snapped the sun went in, hence my expression and arms oustretched gesture to the heavens. But in the end the sunnier shots got a bit bleached out, so this one made it to the Dailies.

I think it was Karina who commented yesterday that it was nice to see someone in the UK wearing shorts, so it must be summer etc. Well, I wear shorts all through the year, although not always outside like this :)

There is a photo of a big storm that briefly threatened us this afternoon in my Odds'n'Ends gallery here; http://johnloguk.smugmug.com/gallery/4328734_9ZqLR#324680076_Ahx32-A-LB but basically it is a beautiful summers day here. I'm at a meeting all evening so apologies again if I don't get round everyone's Dailies today. I'll try to see some now, but "I'll be back" :)
johnloguk > 12.4.08 - Mountain Man Trapped in the City! Usually I'm quite happy living in a City, albeit not a very big one and a really nice one. But somedays I really do miss the space and beauty of mountains, and this is what I was trying to convey in this shot. I'm also slowly working my way towards a more open and revealing SP :)

I've posted this early, it's not midday here yet, because I've got lots of more tradionally "John shots" to edit, and I know I could easily bottle out and post one of those instead of this! I'll post links to them later for those that are interested. They'll be very different to this :)

johnloguk > 25.5.08 - Poetic Justice! Yesterday was a very lazy day for me, so lazy that I've only just noticed that I didn't load a DP :)

I went for a run in the morning, so I suppose I wasn't totally lazy, but after that it was armchair sports all the way. I watched some Rugby League late morning, then the Monaco Grand Prix over lunch. And what a race that was! F1 can be a procession, but when it rains it becomes brilliant to watch, and Louis Hamilton drove like a genius too. There was some golf on, but I'm with Mark Twain on golf ("a good walk spoilt") so didn't take much notice. Then I watched Rugby Union Sevens, one of the fastest sports on the planet, and that was great too. By tea-time I was exhausted :)

Then I remembered that I hadn't taken a photo all day, and went for a drive hoping for a nice sunset, but it remained grey and drizzly like it had been all day. Back home I dived in the shower and settled down to watch "Walk the Line", then I glanced out of the window and saw this!!! Now I could have gone outside for a more interesting shot, but I was in my dressing gown and frankly couldn't be bothered, so this is your lot for today I'm afraid, teach me to be so lazy :)
johnloguk > 19.6.08 - Confusion!

I hope this translates around the world, but over here we have the expression "he couldn't tell his arse from his elbow"! Well some days I get confused, and this was me just checking that I could still tell the difference. Hang on a minute, I think I've got them mixed up again....

Huge thanks to Alex for his daily inspiration to try something like this. It's only taken me since February. Now I'm going out for a few hours before I change my mind and remove this photo!
johnloguk > 4.6.08 - You've heard of the Man in the Moon, well this is the Man in the Planet :) Some of you will remember him from my DP a few weeks ago. This kind of puts him in context a bit.

But if you want the proper context the original is here; http://johnloguk.smugmug.com/gallery/4222541_LCXPH#307147623_2baok-A-LB

With a watercolour version of a slightly different original shot here; http://johnloguk.smugmug.com/gallery/4518270_XDZuH#307149156_WEg7v-A-LB
johnloguk > 24.6.08 - My new toy, a "mouse-eye" lens :)

I'm afraid that Tuesday is the new Friday in my life these days so I'm getting this one in while I have the chance. I missed my usual peruse through the Dailies this morning with my breakfast, as I had an early start. I've just nipped home for some lunch (chicken salad sandwich with hot lime pickle - yummy), and had a quick play with this shot while watching Wimbledon on TV with my peripheral vision. I've often wondered what a mouse sees when he pops his head out of his hole, quickly looking around for predators. Maybe this comes close?

I'm going to have to shoot out again now, but I'll try and catch up with everyone's Dailies later.
johnloguk > 14.6.08 - A lovely end to a lovely day! Spent all day at a business conference in Birmingham today, very interesting stuff, some great speakers and met some really nice people. Got back home just in time to catch a great sunset. I've adjusted shadows and highlights to get some foreground detail, while keeping the colours in the sky. HDR would have made this a lot easier, and better I suspect, but that is all in the future for me. This little lane is just on the outskirts of town, and is another of my favourite running routes. But if plans for the Lincoln Eastern by-pass come to fruition it will disappear under 4 lanes of tarmac :(

There are other sunset shots from tonight here;
      http://johnloguk.smugmug.com/gallery/4053411_yY5Qg#313054244_Jedb4

And some more creative bits and bobs here, including an SP for MB :) http://johnloguk.smugmug.com/gallery/4328734_9ZqLR#313049601_exxPz

Now I need to spend some time catching up with everyone's Dailies, which is always fun :)
johnloguk > 31.5.08 - On Reflection! It's been about a week since I posted an SP or a watercolour as my Daily, so today I've decided to post both at once :)

I spent the afternoon down at the University and along the canal. Everything was very photogenic, nice boats, big dramatic skies, and I found some great new perspectives at the Uni.

I'll post the best of those in other galleries tomorrow sometime, but it's 01.30 here now and these late nights are beginning to be too much of a habit.

I have now added other shots to my "Hometown", "Odds'n'Ends", "Magical Light" and "Watercolour" galleries. I won't be offended if you can't be bothered to look through all of them, honest I won't :)
