13.4.08 - Industrial Light and Magic! I'll sneak back into my comfort zone soon enough, but for now I'm still trying new things. I didn't realise how difficult it would be to photograph an oil refinery at night, just set it up and make sure the camera is stable I thought. I never realised how much noise and flare I'd get, and most of my shots went straight in the "bin" when I got home. I will definitely re-visit this place, with a bit (lot) more forethought, and my tripod (rucsac on car roof wasn't as stable as I'd thought!). I was lucky to find this spot, as the puddles and drainage ditch add to the whole, even if I did attract the attentions of "security" on more than one occasion, ho-hum.....
And how about this for a "Roswell moment" on the way to photograph the refinery;
