johnloguk > 29.11.09 - Lakeside

We had some beautiful weather today, so I went for a short walk in between all the sport on the TV :)

This was taken at Riseholme Hall, a couple of miles north of Lincoln. There is a gallery from the walk here; http://johnloguk.smugmug.com/gallery/10477926_stAee#726962030_v5TKD
johnloguk > 16.11.09 - Big Blue

This is another shot from my walk round Whisby Nature Park yesterday afternoon. I gave you a view of the small things yesterday, so here is the bigger picture, it was such a beautiful day.

We had a glorious sunset this evening, with a full arch double rainbow in the sky at the same time. But sadly I was stuck in the middle of a housing estate, and although I tried there was no way I could capture either successfully.

I'm really struggling to comment on the Dailies at the moment, partly through being busy, but also because I'm having problems with Smugmug logging me out every time I change pages again. This is a shame because the quality of pics on the Dailies has been fantastic lately.
johnloguk > 24.10.09 - A Walk in the Park

We've had another of those strange days, with on and off rain until late afternoon, then a sudden clearance and beautiful weather to finish the day. Having dodged the rain in town all morning, I thought I deserved a walk in the park once the sun came out. I went down to Hartsholme and Swanholme and shot off about 100 photos, some of which are here; http://johnloguk.smugmug.com/gallery/5965117_7hV9D#691213196_QUw74

and here; http://www.lightanddreamsphotography.com/Nature/HARTSHOLME-COUNTRY-PARK/6221276_jhJTP#691140151_ZGi8E

I was agonising over choosing a Daily, then thought that this image was the stand out shot of the day. Things fell into place once I added the sepia filter and frame, I hope you like it as much as I do.
johnloguk > 22.10.09 - Golden

The sun came out for a little while this afternoon, luckily I had my camera with me and was close to this little oasis of Autumn colour. On a housing estate where every other street is named after a literary figure (Browning, Shelley, Marlowe, Burns, Chaucer, Scott, Swift etc), The Oval is an oddity. Houses are arranged around this central area of scattered trees, and at this time of year it is quite beautiful. I'm still not convinced that I've done the colours justice yet this year, but hopefully I have a week or two left.

A special thank-you today to the people who have taken the time to explore some of my other galleries. Lord knows that I've been struggling to even comment on the Dailies, but there are some kind souls out there who regularly delve into the heart of my website and leave wonderful comments scattered throughout.
johnloguk > 20.10.09 - Calm

Despite the traffic calming measures on this quiet residential street the scene was anything but "calm". Today has been bitterly cold with a biting wind. The experts tell us that we have another week until the Autumn colours reach their peak, but if this wind keeps up there won't be many leaves left on the trees.

It's been a while since I did one of my "watercolours", but this image was certainly lifted by it. It's also been a while since I posted a Daily taken in daytime, a sign of the times I suspect :)
johnloguk > 18.10.09 - Planet Lurve :)

This planet was born out of desperation this evening. I've been busy with the kids all day, indoor camping, outdoor archery, Christmas card making (yes, really!) and everything in between! This is obviously a re-working of one of last night's shots, so apologies for something very similar to yesterday's Daily, but I think this works quite well. I love making planets, but they are a bit of a cliche so I don't want to overdo them.
johnloguk > 17.10.09 - Dusk Walkers

I didn't intend another monochrome, but after a long and frustrating day I took a short photo walk at dusk, and this treatment really seemed to suit the image. This is one of my favourite places for photography, by the north-east corner of the Cathedral, and it has featured as a Daily at least twice before. I love it at dusk when the lights have come on, but there is still some colour in the sky. You wouldn't believe there is a road off to the left and traffic lights at my back. You don't have to wait long for people to walk into the image and give it human interest either.

Apologies for minimal commenting yet again, but I seem to be in a permanent state of rushing about and high stress at the moment
johnloguk > 15.10.09 - Stay Out of the Light

This is another B&W conversion from the photo walk last night. After a while it feels like you have taken every possible photo of certain familiar subjects, but this is never the case. You just have to look for different conditions and creative angles and try a little harder. Of course it helps if three people walk across the scene at just the right moment :)

Thank-you for the wonderful response to my previous Daily "Under the Bridge", there is part 2 to that particular shot here, along with some more B&Ws from last night; http://www.lightanddreamsphotography.com/Photography/LINCOLN-PHOTO-WALK-141009/9969682_WjJaL#681990981_MKcqT
johnloguk > 31.5.09 - Run to the Sun

This is a small wood on the edge of town where I went for a run yesterday evening. The sun was low and slanting through the trees, and I didn't see a single person while I was running. But I did see a grass snake, a fox and heard numerous rustlings in the undergrowth to either side. It never ceases to amaze me that most runners persist in running round city streets, when there is almost always somewhere like this as an alternative. But then if everyone ran round here my run wouldn't have been such a wonderful experience :)
