johnloguk > 7.8.09 - Happy Birthday Tennyson

OK, it's a day late, but it's been one of those weeks!

By the way, later this century Lincoln Cathedral will have it's 1000th birthday, but I probably won't be around to celebrate that one :)
johnloguk > 10.4.09 - "The Ladye"

Time for another photo from the Lady of Shalott project http://www.theladyofshalott.co.uk/index.html The film will be launched next month, but more imagery has been released recently so this isn't giving any secrets away now. This shot is from the first shoot I was involved in, back in September 2008. It was taken in Hartsholme Park at dusk, in an attempt to recreate a famous painting of The Lady, hence the treatment of this image. I have to admit that of all the tens of thousands of photos that I've taken this is one of my all time favourites. I love the dreamlike quality of it, and the simple fact that it is nothing like anything I've ever done before, and it was also a huge challenge to shoot at the time. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do :)

I've been insanely busy the last couple of days so haven't been on the Dailies, but I'll try and catch up over the weekend, have a great Easter everyone!
johnloguk > 24.3.09 - "Tennyson"

I've been given permission to publish a couple of my Tennyson photos from the weekend, which is cool because I'd got a day behind and it allows me to catch up. This is actor Ben Poole as the poet Alfred, Lord Tennyson. It is one of my favourite images from the shoot because it took so long to get right :)

More info on the project here; http://www.theladyofshalott.co.uk/index.html
johnloguk > 16.2.09 - Looking Up

This is an alternative to my Monday Challenge shot that is here; http://johnloguk.smugmug.com/gallery/7093288_hSxt4#474710935_gsLa6

There are clear technical faults with this image, basically the floodlit cathedral has blown out, and I need to experiment a lot more to get this right. It was a throw away shot at the time, I only took one of this view, instead of playing around and bracketing like I usually do. The Tennyson statue isn't lit at all at night, and I was trying to get him with the stars behind. I just forgot how bright the cathedral is! Still, I got Orion top left, and you can even see the different colours of red giant Betelgeuse (top left) and blue/white Rigel (bottom right), the two main stars in the constellation. Must do better, but it is all good fun :)

johnloguk > The Cathedral from the North. Even on a dirty grey day it is a majestic building. The statue is the poet Tennyson.
