johnloguk > 8.2.09 - Diamonds Are Forever

Nature's Bling, ice crystals on a log. The sun is shining, but more snow is forecast for this afternoon :)
johnloguk > 5.2.09 - Icy Lane

We had another 2-3 inches of snow overnight. By the time I'd got my back free enough to drag myself out it had stopped. I would have loved to have taken more shots, but I had too much to do and my back simply isn't up to it. The main roads have all been gritted/salted and are perfectly clear, but minor roads like this are very "interesting" to drive on. Fresh snow on top of hard packed ice, what fun :)

Thanks for the kind words about my back, it does ease the pain a little bit :)

I've added a few more shots from this morning here; http://www.smugmug.com/gallery/6455907_NuREH#P-4-15
johnloguk > 3.1.09 - Confused Gulls

When I went to pick the kids up this morning I was early and had 30 minutes to kill, so I went for a quick photographic stroll round Hartsholme Lake. The centre of the lake has been frozen now for days, and it is interesting to watch the behaviour of the birds there. The geese, ducks and coots stick to the patches of open water, but the gulls congregate on the ice flows. They don't really seem to know what to do, and spend their time taking off and landing again, making a real racket while they are doing it.

There are more shots from this morning here; http://johnloguk.smugmug.com/gallery/6221276_jhJTP#448049071_qRwvz including the original of this image. I added the blurred edges to add to the atmosphere, I think I prefer it to the original.

johnloguk > 7.12.08 - Fire and Ice

I love sunsets over water, but sunsets over icy water are even more spectacular, and what an end to the weekend this was! I had hoped to find some snow today, but there was none to be had, so I went for a run in the frosty sunshine this morning, then a leisurely walk in some more frosty sunshine this afternoon. I know Hartsholme Park and Swanholme Lakes like the back of my hand, but I never tire of walking there in the changing seasons. I've made a small gallery of my walk that you might like to visit the next time you need to de-stress yourself, it is here; http://johnloguk.smugmug.com/gallery/6766734_Cnaj4#P-1-20

Thanks for all the kind words on my Christmas Market photo yesterday, it has been a wonderful weekend all round for me and I feel thoroughly re-charged for the week ahead. I hope your weekends have all been good, as things are only going to get more frantic over the next couple of weeks :)
johnloguk > Low sun reflected in an icy River Witham
johnloguk > 18.2.08 - Today has been another beautiful day. Hard frost to start, not a cloud in the sky all day, that low mist that characterises clear winter days, and a stunning sunset to finish things off. I often go for a run around sunset, my favourite time of day, and although carrying a camera tends to break up the run it is often worth it. Today was more photos than running, and I might even have a whole gallery for the rest of the shots (here it is http://johnloguk.smugmug.com/gallery/4363156_BFbUq#256100460 ). But here is today's offering, another take on "fire and ice", reflected sun and reeds in the icy river.
