johnloguk > 29.8.09 - Fiddler

I've got a commission this weekend, taking photos for the local tourist board, this is one of many I took this morning. I love music on the streets in the late Summer sunshine, and this guy was really good.

I've now created a gallery of shots from the shoot here; http://www.lightanddreamsphotography.com/Photography/LINCS-TOURISM-COMMISSION/9463058_eMtTs#634919705_fdnCi
johnloguk > 26.7.09 - Summer in the Park

Because I got behind over the weekend this was actually taken this lunchtime (27th) in the Arboretum. If you want to see what happened to the weather a few minutes later check out my Daily for the 27th!
johnloguk > 18.7.09 - Pretty Pair

Thanks for the wonderful comments on my Busy Bee pic, and the concerns about my broken tooth. A quick update on the tooth, the main problem now is that my tongue is sore and swollen from rubbing against the broken tooth for 2 days. The tooth itself doesn't hurt much, but it is hard to eat and even talk with my tongue in the state it is. Some would say that both are a good thing, but I couldn't possibly comment, well it would be painful if I did ;)

I really like the bokeh in this shot, I think it looks like it has been washed down. I reckon it was caused by the flowers swaying slightly in the breeze, but I think it is cool anyway, I hope you do too.
johnloguk > 30.4.09 - April

Continuing my series of monthly collages that I hope to put into a calendar at the end of the year. I shouldn't have been surprised by the explosion of wildflowers and blossom during April, but I was. I can't believe that May is almost here, I think I'm gonna need a bigger collage ;)

This collage was done before my photo walk yesterday, so I've added a selection of those shot to my Hartsholme Park gallery, which includes another collage especially for Carole here; http://johnloguk.smugmug.com/gallery/6221276_jhJTP#524790426_7gTtg

 The Happy Easter Challenge...04/13/09
The Challenge:Show us your interpretation of "Happy Easter."
The Participants: Kre8ive, John (300m), The Curious Camel, Karina, Creative Deviance, Lady Kate, FotoEffects, Hillary, and myself.
The Result: I had lots of ideas for this challenge; Easter eggs and bunnies to the fore, but it didn't work out that way. I'd even hoped to get away somewhere for the weekend, but the miserable weather got in the way of that plan. Then late yesterday afternoon I forced myself out for a walk in the drizzle, and that did the trick. I never fail to be amazed by the beauty around us, even if it isn't always obvious, and these flowers turned my Easter into a happier one.
johnloguk > 12.4.08 - Cat's Eye View

Last year we had snow on Easter Sunday, very unusual but very photogenic. This weekend has been grey, drizzly and miserable, which has suited my mood. I've not been a very happy Easter Bunny, feeling under the weather, not got as many things done as I'd planned, but I did have a lovely walk this afternoon in between showers. I got a few nice flower shots, but this one was inspired by watching a cat on the prowl. The grass was far too wet to get down to take this, so I simply put the camera at shin height and fired a few off. I made sure I focused on the purple "forest" and I quite like the result. At least it gave me a giggle on a miserable day :)
johnloguk > 31.3.09 - March

The latest in my series of monthly collages. I'm going to try to do a whole year in the same style, using flowers/plants from each month, maybe make a calendar at the end. So far got November, January, February and March. This was the hardest to make because there are now so many flowers to choose from! It didn't help that my computer crashed just as I was saving it, and so I had to do it all over again from scratch!

Is it really April tomorrow?
johnloguk > 11.3.09 - "Ain't They Purdy" :)

I seem to be alternating between gritty monochromes and pretty flowers at the moment, but if that's the way my muse wants to take me then so be it. I had all sorts of plans for today, but the Elizabethan Manor House I went to see is only open at weekends in March. So I made do with exploring the old churchyard next door and found these little beauties down in the grass. The light was catching them just right and they stood out from a long way away.

I added the soft edges that I used yesterday, but used a black fill layer this time to create a different vignette. This is the first time I've tried this with flowers, but I'm happy with the way it worked out and will keep playing with it.
