johnloguk > 29.9.09 - Wild Sky

This was last night, not long after I posted the collage as my Daily. Skies like this normally appear after a storm, but this one came as dreary grey clouds simply broke up at sunset. I was on my way to see a customer and pulled over to take a couple of quick shots before the colours disappeared.

I've not taken any photos today, it has been so manic that I didn't eat anything until 4pm!
johnloguk > 8.4.09 - Curvature of the Earth

They say you can't see the curvature of the Earth with the naked eye, but you can if you're looking through an 18mm lens, unfortunately it appears to be curving the wrong way in this shot :)

I've just realised that I haven't changed the clock in the camera, this was actually taken just before 8pm not 7pm.
johnloguk > 22.2.09 - Red Sky at Night, Photographer's Delight :)

There are times when I feel that sunset photos are nothing to do with me, all I do is point and shoot, Mother Nature and Uncle Nikon do the work! I am also lucky that less than 2 minutes walk from my flat I have this view, so when I see something developing in the sky I just grab the camera and stroll round to the old quarry. Last night was a pretty special sunset as you can see. This is straight out of camera, and there are 11 more in my Lincoln Sunsets Gallery here; http://johnloguk.smugmug.com/gallery/4053411_yY5Qg#478293082_9jPb4

As I said, not a lot to do with me as a photographer, but still damn spectacular :)
johnloguk > 7.12.08 - Fire and Ice

I love sunsets over water, but sunsets over icy water are even more spectacular, and what an end to the weekend this was! I had hoped to find some snow today, but there was none to be had, so I went for a run in the frosty sunshine this morning, then a leisurely walk in some more frosty sunshine this afternoon. I know Hartsholme Park and Swanholme Lakes like the back of my hand, but I never tire of walking there in the changing seasons. I've made a small gallery of my walk that you might like to visit the next time you need to de-stress yourself, it is here; http://johnloguk.smugmug.com/gallery/6766734_Cnaj4#P-1-20

Thanks for all the kind words on my Christmas Market photo yesterday, it has been a wonderful weekend all round for me and I feel thoroughly re-charged for the week ahead. I hope your weekends have all been good, as things are only going to get more frantic over the next couple of weeks :)
johnloguk > 16.11.08 - Afterglow

A beautiful sunny November day today, a fitting end to a busy but successful weekend. I had terrible trouble choosing my Daily, yeah yeah same old story, as I took about 50 shots on a sunset walk down to the river. So I copped out as usual and set up a new gallery for the walk, including links to Google Earth, which is here; http://www.lightanddreamsphotography.com/gallery/6571896_4KgP2#418393832_tHJF7

It wasn't the greatest sunset, but the afterglow colours were exceptional. In daytime this isn't a particularly pretty spot, but at sunset it comes alive. There is a lot of water to reflect the sky colours, and plenty of nice lines for composition purposes. I've taken loads of photos down here before, but I think the colours this evening were very different to previous photos.
