DailyPhotos > John Bennett  > Photography > DAILY PHOTOS SIXTH YEAR
Into my sixth year of taking and posting a photo every day. I will endeavor to use a photo taken that actual day, or at least one that was processed that day, but occasionally I will post something from the archives if I think it is appropriate (or necessary). I will also try to post interesting images, but life isn't always interesting so some will be a bit more mundane :)

I live in the beautiful old historical city of Lincoln in the East of England. It always features heavily in my images. If you're ever over this way be sure to let me know and I'll give you a free guided tour :)

06.02.13 - Walk This Way........

This is a cheat, it is from walking the dog on the 3rd, but I didn't take any photos yesterday. It is very rare that I don't take any photos in a day, but yesterday I was just too caught up with other things, I only got a couple of very brief glimpses of the dailies too. I could almost post something similar to this everyday, as I'm out across the fields or up the hill most days with the dog and/or running :)

Here is the reverse view looking down the hill;

The disappointment of our funding meeting in Nottingham on Tuesday still rankles, but we spent most of yesterday planning our response and future tactics. This link explains our predicament;

Here is the link to the website of the wonderful pub that featured as yesterday's Daily, you might find it interesting;

05.02.13 - Mine's a Pint!

This is the view from the balcony in the Malt Cross pub in Nottingham, where we had lunch yesterday. We'd just had a very frustrating meeting that didn't go according to plan, luckily this wonderful establishment was nearby. It didn't change the outcome of the meeting, but it did help us get it out of our system and start plans to move on. Pork and ginger sausages washed down with a pint of "Tuck" porter from a local microbrewery take some beating :)

Slightly different view here;

04.02.13 - Quantum Drive.............

This was a quick shot on the way home last night. While I was waiting to cross the road I thought I'd get some photos of the traffic at the lights. By starting the exposure just as the lights changed I caught the bus just before it moved, and then as it slips into warp drive and goes on it's way :)
03.02.13 - Heading up the Hill

This is a simple shot from walking the dog yesterday, Mr Willis posed nicely on the brow as we were headed across the fields for the hill, so I quickly swapped lenses and used the dof to advantage. It was very raw yesterday, and missing the sunshine of Saturday, so I cropped the miserable sky out of the shot
02.02.13 - The View Remains the Same?

Because we have few high rise buildings in Lincoln I often wonder how little the view of the city from a distance has changed over the centuries. The Cathedral has dominated the surrounding flatlands from the hill since the late 11th century, so I'm sure that a medieval farmer would have seen something very similar to this. The main difference would have been the river, which would have been far more sprawling across marshlands, rather than being channelled like this. But anyway, that is how my mind wanders when I'm out and about on a bitterly cold February morning :)

Huge thanks for your warm and supportive comments on my five completed years of Dailies by the way :)
01.02.13 - Urban

This starts my 6th year of Dailies!

When I first started posting a Daily over five years ago I was basically a landscape photographer. I rarely took shots around town, or did portraits, and I took then purely for myself and my family. I now scrape a living from my photography, which entails everything from weddings, stills photography on film projects, corporate work for websites, private commissions and guided photo walks. This is from my latest photo walk, and I've added a gritty treatment in post processing, which is another area that I have explored since my time on The Dailies.

So a huge thankyou to everyone who has ever commented on my work and encouraged me to try new things, to the great photographers out there who continue to inspire me on a daily basis, and especially to those of you that have been along for this wild and wacky ride since the beginning, you know who you are :)
