DailyPhotos > John Bennett  > Photography > DAILY PHOTOS SIXTH YEAR
Into my sixth year of taking and posting a photo every day. I will endeavor to use a photo taken that actual day, or at least one that was processed that day, but occasionally I will post something from the archives if I think it is appropriate (or necessary). I will also try to post interesting images, but life isn't always interesting so some will be a bit more mundane :)

I live in the beautiful old historical city of Lincoln in the East of England. It always features heavily in my images. If you're ever over this way be sure to let me know and I'll give you a free guided tour :)

20.05.13 - Green Veined White Butterfly

So many of these guys around at the moment. Usually they aren't easy to photograph because they don't stay in one place very long, but this guy let me take several photos before he flew away.
19.05.13 - Walk This Way

Mr Willis walking down by the river yesterday
18.05.13 - The Old Guys

Another shot from Friday, this was taken from my back garden. The Lancaster is flanked by two Spitfire Mk19s. They were on their way from RAF Scampton where they had done a sunset ceremony the night before, to their base at RAF Coningsby, to get ready for the Cathedral flypast later in the afternoon.
17.05.13 - Dambuster

This is a Lancaster bomber doing a flypast to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the famous Dambuster raid in 1943.

I also have a small gallery here;

16.05.13 - Pretty in Pink

I found these pretty little flowers while photographing the sunset on Wednesday, but only got round to processing them yesterday. I'd hoped to be able to identify them before I posted them, but so far they remain a mystery, does anyone have any ideas? I should know what they are, but my wildflower recognition is a bit patchy to say the least.

I'm involved in photographing the Dambuster 70th anniversary commemorations today so won't be around much.

LATE EDIT: They have been identified as Cuckoo Flowers :)
15.05.13 - Sunset Strip

When I left the house to walk the dog last night I thought I was going to get soaked. The sky was black and doomy, huge clouds boiling overhead, but 30 minutes later it was like this! In about a week the sun will be setting directly behind the power station from this vantage point, I hope to capture it :)

This was the sky as we started the walk;

Thanks again for the wonderful comments on my series of Cycle race pics over the last few days
14.0513 - Where'd He Go?

Apologies for another cycle race shot, and huge thanks for the wonderful comments on my previous ones, but this will be the last! I hadn't intend posting this but I didn't take any photos yesterday due to other commitments. I thought this was a fun shot though :)
13.05.13 - The Hill

This is one of my favourite perspectives of Sunday's cycle race, as the riders climb the steep cobbles of Michaelgate with the city stretched out behind and below them. Thankyou for the wonderful comments on my speed blur shot yesterday :)

Here is the full race gallery;

For those of you that like moving pictures here is a link to the official race website and some videos of the 2012 event;

12.05.13 - Zoooooooooooooom

This is a shot from the Lincoln Cycle Grand Prix yesterday. I've shot this marvellous event since 2008 and am always looking for new vantage points, and different ways of shooting to bring out the drama, colour and speed of the whole thing. Hopefully this gives some impression of the speed these guys travel at! The race was won by Olympic Team GB gold medallist Peter Kennaugh.

This was shot hand held at 1/15th of a second, sitting down braced with my elbows on my knees to form a tripod as the guys sped by. I'll link to the gallery when I'm done, but I think it will take most of today to sort it out. Here is the link;
